Hi! I'm Julie.
I am the founder of Petit Bijou Biewer Terriers and Russian Salon Dogs. I take pleasure in participating in conformation events with both breeds, showcasing Biewer's in AKC and Russian Salon Dogs in IABCA competitions.
My fascination with Russian Salon Dogs began in 2016 when I encountered an article highlighting new dog breeds from around the world. Their distinctive appearance and coloration captivated me. After years of dialogue with breeders and extensive research into the breed, I opted to import them to personally assess their temperament and health prior to breeding. Their demeanor is impressive; in contrast to the energetic and playful Biewer Terriers, Russian Salon Dogs exude a regal and elegant aura with a relaxed nature, often observing the playful antics of the Biewer's. Russian Salon Dogs are devoted companions, ideal for individuals in compact residences or seniors seeking a tranquil pet to accompany them throughout their day.
I was determined to promote the breed in the USA and needed a way to showcase them. In 2021, I reached out to IABCA but was denied entry into their show registration. To generate interest and gain recognition, I had to promote the breed within the dog breeding community. I began by posting photos of my Russian Salon Dogs on social media occasionally throughout the year, as I was preoccupied with dog shows featuring my Biewer Terriers and managing litters. My plan was to breed Russian Salon Dogs and hopefully raise a puppy that could one day be shown alongside my Biewer Terriers. Fortune smiled on me with a litter of two puppies, a male and a female. The female, though beautiful, lacked the temperament I sought in a show dog. Therefore, I kept the male, named him Archer, and he eventually became a companion for my mother under guardianship. In March 2023, I took steps to establish a breed club, holding onto my aspiration to exhibit Russian Salon Dogs. It took half a year to establish the breed club.
The Russian Salon Dog Club of America and the Russian Salon Dog Registry of America were officially established in 2023. We immediately began receiving membership applications. Breeders eager to develop their breeding programs began importing Russian salon dogs from Europe for registration.
August 2023 marked our acceptance into the IABCA.
I was thrilled and prepared to give this beautiful breed the recognition it deserved. I entered Archer in all four shows at the end of October. He performed admirably, especially considering it was his first time being shown at over a year old. He won Best of Breed in all four shows and placed third in the Toy Group for three days. His ratings were consistently V-1, the highest achievable, and we concluded the show with Archer titled as an International Champion.
October 2024, The Russian Salon Dog was moved into Phase 2 of the Bloodline Listing Srvices with UKC. We can register dogs and litters in 2025.
